Prominent Cameroonian human rights lawyer and civil society leader Barrister Agbor Balla has issued a heartfelt public appeal on his facebook page on 15 July 2026 urging entertainers CY and Gilbert to end their ongoing public exchanges, warning against the dangers of hate speech, public insults, and online hostility.
In a statement released on his social media platforms, Agbor Balla expressed deep concern over the escalating war of words between the two public figures, emphasizing that such disputes set a poor example for young people who look up to them.
“Enough is Enough”
Addressing both entertainers directly, Agbor Balla revealed that he has known them personally for years and has consistently admired their talent and contribution to Cameroon’s entertainment industry.
He disclosed that he had previously made several private attempts to reconcile the pair whenever disagreements arose behind the scenes. However, after those efforts failed to produce lasting peace, he decided to make a rare public intervention.
“I am not writing to determine who is right or who is wrong. I am not taking sides. That is not my role. As an elder brother, I simply want to say: enough is enough,” he wrote.

Agbor Balla reminded both artists that their influence extends far beyond the entertainment industry. According to him, many young Cameroonians admire them and often imitate both their words and actions.

“You do not have to agree with each other. You do not even have to be friends. But you can choose restraint over insults, respect over ridicule, and dignity over public confrontation.”
The respected lawyer further encouraged both personalities to reflect carefully before responding publicly during moments of anger.
“Before posting words in anger, pause and ask yourselves: What example am I setting? What legacy am I leaving for my children and for those who look up to me?”

“One of the greatest signs of strength is knowing when to end a conflict, even when you believe you are right. May peace prevail.”
