His words 🗣️
“My dear fellow countrymen,
Cameroonians,
On October 12th, you spoke loud and clear.
You stood up with dignity and courage. You went out to vote, despite threats, intimidation, and pressure.
You chose change, you chose an alternative, you chose transition.
But since that day, shameful and repeated maneuvers have multiplied in an attempt to steal the voice of the people.
Ballot boxes have disappeared, as admitted by an ELECAM official in Makari.
Impossible results have emerged in the Northwest and Southwest, where massive war-related abstention has somehow been magically transformed into 100% support for the ruling regime, in regions where rejection of that regime is strongest.
How can people who have suffered and fought against a system at the cost of their lives suddenly reward it at the cost of their votes?
For that to happen, the conscience of an entire population would have to be anesthetized.
It is an insult to the intelligence of the people to claim they voted more for the RDPC than there are actual residents in those regions.
We’ve seen torn PVs, replaced and inserted in the middle of documents to invent numbers that exist nowhere else, numbers different from those handed to party representatives present at the polling stations.
Observers chased out.
Party representatives denied access.
Complicit judges turning a blind eye.
My dear compatriots,
this is no longer just an election.
It is an organized operation against the will of the people.
Mr. President of the Constitutional Council,
Honorable Members, Ladies and Gentlemen,
The future of this Nation lies in your hands.
You have sworn to protect the Constitution and uphold the law.
Today, you stand before history.
You can either validate the truth of the ballot box and give Cameroon the peaceful change it demands or endorse fraud and plunge our nation into uncertainty.
Do not say you didn’t see, the evidence is everywhere.
The people voted overwhelmingly for change, for Tchiroma.
You know it.
So weigh carefully the consequences of the decision you are about to make.
I solemnly urge you:
Stand on the side of justice.
Stand on the side of truth.
Stand with the people.
Your allegiance must be to the Nation, not to a few individuals.
To President Paul Biya,
You have ruled this country for 43 years.
History is watching you.
You still have one last chance, the chance to leave through the big door, as a statesman who respected the will of his people.
Do not end your legacy with such blatant fraud.
Do not let your name go down in history as the man who cheated until the very end.
You have often called yourself a beggar for peace, then leave power with honor, before power leaves you.
I extend to you a brotherly hand. Take it.
To our neighbors and international partners
Nigeria, Chad, the African Union, the European Union, the United Nations, France, the United States, and all friends of Cameroon:
Do not remain silent.
Your silence encourages dictatorship.
Your voice can protect peace.
Speak up, tell the truth, and act so that the will of the Cameroonian people is respected.
My dear fellow countrymen,
I say this with all my heart and strength:
Your voice will not be stolen.
This is not my victory, it is yours.
It is not my triumph, it is that of the Cameroonian people.
The regime seeks to intimidate you, but it is they who should tremble.
Because this time, the people have decided, and the people are ready to defend their victory.
Do not yield to provocation. Stay calm.
But remember, your right to claim your victory is universal and undeniable.
Defend your vote, because the only result we recognize is the true result from the ballot boxes.
Cameroon stands at a crossroads.
Either we accept lies once more,
or we take control of our destiny.
I renew my promise to you:
I will not betray your trust.
I stand firm, determined to defend your victory won through sweat, tears, and sacrifice.
The people have had enough.
The people no longer accept deceit.
The people have won. The people must celebrate their victory.
Together, we will write a new page in our nation’s history.
Long live the sovereign people!
Long live a free, united, and reconciled Cameroon!
Issa Tchiroma Bakary
People’s Candidate…”
