2025 Presidential Elections in Cameroon: Akere Muna Launches Campaign in Tiko, Southwest Region

The 27 of September 2025 was the official launch of the presidential campaigns in Cameroon. What unfolded in Tiko was more than a political rally. It felt like the beating heart of a nationwide movement. Streets were alive with colour and song as residents from all walks of life poured into the town square to welcome Akere Muna, who officially launched his 2025 presidential campaign in the South West Region.

The atmosphere was electric. Young people, market women, professionals, and elders stood shoulder to shoulder, united by a shared dream of a better Cameroon. The rousing reception and enthusiastic engagement from Tiko’s incredible people revealed something deeper than support for a single candidate: it was a visible hunger for change, justice, and leadership that puts citizens first.

In his remarks, Muna framed the 12 October election as a defining moment for the nation. “On October 12, we won’t just be casting votes,” he said. “We will be casting a verdict. We will be saving the soul of our nation. This is our chance to lead our country into a new dawn.” His message resonated widely with the crowd, sparking chants and renewed determination.

For many in attendance, the rally symbolized a shift from frustration to action. It highlighted the growing demand for transparent governance, equal opportunity, and national unity across Cameroon’s diverse communities. Supporters described the event as an “awakening” and a “call to responsibility” ahead of the polls.

As the campaign trail moves beyond Tiko, the question for Cameroonians is how to transform this moment of hope into sustained civic engagement and meaningful change. The turnout in the South West Region suggests that people are ready to play their part. Whether this momentum will reshape the political landscape remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the road to October 12 has begun, and the eyes of the nation are on it.
