On Saturday, 27 September 2025, the Social Democratic Front (SDF) officially kicked off its presidential campaign at the Grandstand on Commercial Avenue in Bamenda. The city, long considered the party’s spiritual home, came alive as thousands of supporters, militants and well-wishers gathered to reaffirm their faith in the SDF’s vision for a just, democratic and prosperous Cameroon.
Hon. Joshua N. Osih, the SDF presidential candidate, used the occasion to present a clear roadmap for change. His speech highlighted the party’s core principles of justice, accountability, peace and federalism, values that have anchored the SDF since its inception and remain central to its struggle for a fairer Cameroon.
The choice of Bamenda, a town deeply affected by the ongoing armed conflict in the North West Region, was both symbolic and significant. By launching the campaign there, the SDF underscored its solidarity with communities that have borne the brunt of violence and instability, while pledging renewed efforts toward reconciliation, development and the restoration of peace.
Supporters described the event as a turning point, energising the party base and sending a strong signal that the SDF remains committed to “the people, for the people and by the people.” As the campaign moves from Bamenda to other regions, the party hopes to translate that enthusiasm into a nationwide movement for change ahead of the October 12 presidential election.
