As Cameroon prepares for its presidential election scheduled for October 12, 2025, the Ministry of Territorial Administration has issued an official “Communiqué Radio-Presse” inviting eligible candidates to collect the first installment of public campaign financing.
According to the announcement, candidates retained for the election, or their duly authorized representatives, are expected to report to the Directorate of Financial and Material Resources (Office 218) on Monday, September 29, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM. This disbursement marks a critical step in ensuring equitable access to campaign resources and upholding the principles of public financing in electoral processes.
To complete the collection, representatives must present:
- A legalized national identity card
- A signed mandate or power of attorney from the party’s legal representative
The Ministry also clarified that the second installment of campaign funding will be disbursed in accordance with Cameroon’s legal provisions governing electoral finance.
This move comes amid heightened scrutiny of electoral transparency and fairness, with civil society actors closely monitoring how public funds are allocated and whether all candidates receive equal treatment under the law.
As the campaign season intensifies, the timely release of public financing will be a key factor in enabling candidates to engage voters, organize outreach, and participate meaningfully in the democratic process.
